Amy Hufnagel,
Learning Specialist II
Amy brings over 25 years of experience supporting students and families across general education, special education, physical education, and academic therapy. She has worked with learners from Pre-K through high school and spent more than two decades teaching in Montgomery County Public Schools.
Amy has extensive experience assessing student needs, developing and implementing IEPs, and collaborating closely with families and school teams. Trained in Orton-Gillingham and executive function coaching, she uses data-informed, trauma-informed, and restorative practices to support both academic growth and social-emotional development.
In addition to working directly with students, Amy has served as a professional development trainer and parent workshop presenter, supporting educators with instructional accommodations, curriculum implementation, and equitable teaching practices. She is known for building strong relationships and creating inclusive learning environments where students feel confident, supported, and capable.
Amy holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education from Radford University and has certifications in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Environmental Education (K–12), and Physical Education (K–12). She has finished 60 hours of graduate coursework to achieve a Masters equivalency.
