Nicole Johnson, M.T.

Learning Specialist II

Nicole is a certified elementary and special education teacher with more than 30 years of experience supporting students with diverse learning needs. She is passionate about helping students become confident, capable readers and believes that every child can learn to read when provided with instruction that meets their individual needs.


Nicole uses individualized, data-driven, multisensory instruction grounded in the Science of Reading. Her training includes Wilson Fundations, and Orton-Gillingham methodologies, which she uses to help students strengthen foundational reading skills, fluency, comprehension, and confidence. Drawing on her extensive background in special education, Nicole also supports students in developing their writing and math skills. She values building positive relationships with students and partnering with families to help each student make meaningful progress and become a more independent learner.


Nicole earned her Master’s in Teaching from the University of Virginia. Outside of her work with students, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their three daughters, hiking, kayaking, and exploring the mountains of Colorado together.
